Muscat, 9 Feb (ONA) — The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA), in partnership with the Global Computer Services Company, launched the Access (Nafad) platform.

The platform aims to attract national competencies specialized in the fields of technology, communications and postal services. It will allow licensed individuals in those sectors to float tenders, as well as requesting and bidding offers.

The launching ceremony was held under the patronage of Eng. Said Hamoud Al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in the presence of Dr. Mahad Said Ba’Owain, Minister of Labour.

Al Ma’awali said that launching the Access platform as a virtual incubator is the fruit of concerted efforts in developing the concept of work in the enterprises sector and of part-time workers.

He added that the platform will increase transparency by giving access to opportunities. He also pointed out that there are RO 8 million-worth business that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and freelancers can find through the part-time work system.

On his turn, Eng. Ahmed Hassan Al Hadabi, Executive Manager for Strategic Planning in the TRA said that the platform will boost In-Country Value (ICV). It also targets creating a milieu that supports entrepreneurship in the communications, information technology and postal sectors.

The aims of the Access platform are comprised in maximizing the ICV and connecting SMEs and independent entrepreneurs with opportunities in the fields of communications and postal services. It will also contribute in providing training programmes for jobseekers in those fields, Al Hadabi added.
