Over 1.55 Million Vehicles Registered till December 2021 in Oman

Muscat, 14 Feb (ONA) — The total number of registered vehicles (excluding military vehicles) in the Sultanate of Oman declined by 0.3% from 1,557,453 by the end of December 2020 to reach 1,552,665 by the end of December 2021, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Information and Statistics (NCSI).
Vehicles with commercial registration recorded the biggest decline from 239,639 vehicles by the end of December 2020 to 232,985 by the end of December 2021. The number of government vehicles went down by 12,695 in December 2020 to 12,206 by the end of December 2021.
Vehicles with private registration accounted for 79.4% of the total number of registered vehicles in Oman, increasing by 11,807 vehicles to reach 1,233,109 compared to 1,221,302 vehicles by the end of December 2020.
Tutoring vehicles rose from 5,730 by December 2020 to 5,842 by the end of December 2021.
Lightweight vehicles with engine capacities between 1500 cc and 3000 cc reached 833,155 by the end of December 2021.
Among colours, white was the most preferred colour for vehicles in Oman with 665,975. Silver was the second choice with 199,428, while gray came as the third most prominent vehicle colour with about 128,189 vehicles.
Vehicles with temporary registration (temporary inspection, export and import) dropped by 50.2% by the end of December 2021 to reach 7,645 compared to 15,351 vehicles by the end of December 2020.
