Cairo, 15 Dec (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, participated in the 40th meeting of the Arab Permanent Committee for Post and its affiliated work groups.
The event, held in Sharm El Sheikh, Arab Republic of Egypt, saw the participation of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and Oman Post.
In its current session, the committee discussed many important topics on joint Arab action in the postal sector, most notably the role and importance of digital transformation and e-commerce.
The meeting also reviewed the proposed fees for e-commerce delivery services, in a bid to enable the postal sector in the Arab countries to benefit from the rapid global growth of e-commerce.
It is worth noting that the Sultanate of Oman was recently elected to the board of directors of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) at the conference held last August in Ivory Coast.
