Muscat, 15 Sep (ONA) — The Sultanate today took part in the 22nd preparatory meeting of GCC Housing and Urban Planning Undersecretaries, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The meeting, held via video-conferencing, is in preparation for the 19th meeting of GCC housing and urban planning ministers, scheduled to be held 22 September 2021.

The preparatory meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sheikh Khalid Hamoud Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Sultanate was represented in the meeting by Eng. Hamad Ali Al Nazwani, Undersecretary for Housing.

The meeting reviewed efforts and future plans of GCC ministries of housing in addressing implications of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sector. It also discussed the strategy of the joint housing action, the unified general system for real estate owners and housing databases.

The meeting also covered the GCC Housing Award, which outlines a framework for specialized academic research in housing and urban planning.
