Labour Ministry Signs Agreement to Train 250 Omanis in Top Leadership Positions

Muscat, 7 Sep (ONA) – The Ministry of Labour today signed an agreement for designing and implementing the National Programme for the Development of Leadership.
Codenamed “Eitimad” (or Accreditation) the programme aims to empower Omanis operating in medium-level and high-level management in the private sector.
The agreement, signed with Kafa’a Human Resources Development Company, provides for training 250 citizens working for the private sector in sectors short-listed for the economic diversification programme’s enhancement. Training ranges from three to six months.
The agreement was signed by Sayyid Salim Musallam Al Busaidi, Human Resources Development Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, and Eng. Amer Mustafa Al Fadhil, CEO of Kafa’a HRD firm.
As many as 500 private sector employees have received training in accordance with the credentials of the programme, which seeks to upgrade the capabilities of thousands of Omanis operating in medium and high-level leadership positions, said Sayyid Salim, noting that the programme will contribute to the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
In his turn, Eng. Amer said that the programme has been designed in partnership with renowned international universities, among them MIT, Columbia and Tuck.
Meanwhile, Dr. Yasmeen Shannan Al Balushi, Director of Eitimad, said that the programme targets workers in a number of economic sectors. The candidates are selected by their respective private sector companies in accordance with a specific mechanism or credentials covering the level of qualification and expertise and passing the tests conducted by the company implementing the programme.
The candidates will sit for the tests and undergo assessment of their skills and abilities before joining the programme, which is a mixture of physical attendance and online training.
