Employment-based Training Agreement Signed for Omanizing 800 Jobs in Electricity Sector
Muscat, 2 Sep (ONA) — The Ministry of Labour today signed an agreement for employment-linked training aimed to replace 800 expats by Omanis in the electricity sector.
Dr. Mansoor Talib al-Hinai, Chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR), said that the agreement will help find 800 jobs for Omani engineers and technicians under permanent contracts.
The Ministry of Labour will undertake the funding of employment-based and on-the-job training programmes in partnership with Nama Group and parties entrusted with the programmes.
The Ministry of Labour and Nama Group keep developing the skills of national technical personnel, inventorying professions where jobseekers can be employed, determining the required skills and qualifications and devising related training plans and strategies.
The programmes will raise the rate of Omanization (in the electricity sector) from 47%, currently, to 90%.
The agreement was signed by Sayyid Salim Musallam al-Busaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Development, and Eng. Omar Khalfan al-Wahaibi, CEO of Nama Group.
